Learn to love the flickers, spills and blotches
We’ll teach you how to make your own ink and tools using natural or plant based materials. You can then can test these out whilst making your own quirky illustrations, writing or drawings. We’ll introduce various methods of creating form, marks and variation of line and some basic skills practice but the aim is then to venture in and around Margate to produce dynamic illustrations inspired by local beach scenes, coastal townhouses or fairground rides.
Suitable for all abilities including absolute beginners.

- Natural preservatives and flow improvers
- How to convert your ink into a portable watercolour block
- How to make a quill pen and and made drawing tools
- Paper types to use
- Mark making
- Washes and achieving good tonal variation
- Showcase of examples
- Discussion on what makes effective design
WHAT TO BRING:
Please bring along a sketchbook, pencils, plus 3 empty large and 3 empty small jars if possible.
Dress for mess but also for outside adventure.
