Looking to make home-made gifts, a little self-pampering, or to learn skills that could lead to a small business? This introductory course provides insight to home DIY natural beauty products and gently introduces insight and knowledge into skin care formulation whilst making 5 products that you can take home.
Make and take home 5 products:
- Face masks
- Face scrub
- Moisturiser
- Facial serum
- Foot lotion
- Salve
On the day we’ll start you making simple products with a few ingredients to build your confidence building up to more complex formulations.
You will learn the properties of essential oils that cleanse, calm or help with problem skin, as well as the different properties of different botannicals, oils and butters. Every ingredient you add to the formulation is discussed and explained and alternatives given. It’s fun, accessorising and a bit of chemistry without the headache. Your final unique recipe will be the result of careful research, responsible sourcing, benefits to your skin type, and exhaustive play in a relaxed environment. It’s this consideration that gives us purpose!
You’ll not only walk away with a selection of lotions and potions to sample at home but also comprehensive notes and an understanding of what it takes to become a skincare formulator.
This course will cover:
- Good working practices
- Ingredient types and properties
- Product researching and sourcing
- Creating a basic store
- Create your own lab – equipment and cleaning
- Understanding preservatives
- How to create a mask, scrub, moisturiser, body or foot lotion and salve for safe use
- The difference between home DIY products and products for sale

This is a great starter course for those wishing to launch into making their own skin care products. It really is possible to start a business venture from the kitchen table. This course starts you with the basics and then overviews the steps needed to translate a simple pastime into a new business venture.
